

SAMSAM produce both electric and hydraulic motor driven point machines. There are five different models for these products; NS, NS-AM, NS-AM-L, YB and HPS. The machine can be separately designed and tailored to meet the special requirement by the customer. SAMSAM provides wide trailing stroke range between 185 mm and 210 mm for heavy and light rail line. A sensor is attached on the stock rail to detect the close adhesion of tongue rail to stock rail. If the gap between two rails is more than 3 mm, a train should be stopped in order not to derail of the train.
NS Type
NS Type Point Machine is an electric motor driven point machines that has been verified its high reliability by long years of successful operation in railways and subways.
The machine consists of electric motor as a power source, magnet clutch and reduction gears as a medium of conveying powers, and thrusting bar as a device to change the rotational movement to linear movement of the power.
NS type point machine use mechanical frictional clutch, which requires seasonal adjustment of the spring force due to the temperature dependent operating mechanism.
The Point Machine provides easy installation and unique design for easy maintenance. The machine is placed on top of the rail sleeper with the base plate underneath the machine. The machine also provides several openings for checking and maintenance without dismantle its body. The machines also equipped with supplemental handle crank for manual operation without power supply.
NS-AM Type
The NS-AM Type Point Machine replaced the mechanical clutch of the NS Type Point Machine with electro magnetic clutch with magnetic brake system. Magnetic clutch requires no seasonal adjustment and no harmful impact at the moment of closing position by inertia force, which provides constant thrusting force and low operating cost.

NS-AM-L Type
NS-AM-L Type Point Machine has been designed by the specific requirement of a customer from Iron & Steel Making in Japan. This Point Machine adds up Signal Light Unit to the existing NS-AM Type Point Machine. This Point Machine is to replace the old YB Type Point machine without changing the existing Signal Control System.
YB Type
YB Type Point machine is semi-automatic that is handled by train operator with tappet switch and lever switch mounted near the railways. The machine is used mainly for the location where the frequent switching of the turnout is required. Major consumer of this type of point machine is Steel & Iron Making Company is being replaced with the HPS that SAMSAM has developed.
HPS
This is hydraulically operated Point Machine that has been engineered and designed by SAMSAM. This Point Machine produce maximum thrusting force up to 1,000 kgf compared to 400 kgf by the electromotive point machine. The machine is light weight and no left & right version so that restriction of installation location and cost are drastically reduced and even applicable to confined space like subway. The control unit is water proof that prevents any breakdown of the system caused by the water leakage in the raining season. This point machine has been tested and verified its successful operation in Korea railways. This point machine drastically reduce the installation and maintenance cost.

Control Unit
The classical type control unit of the point machine is consists of relay controller and circuit controller that controls the sequence of the system through the mechanical contact points of the unit. However, the frequent contact point trouble and the water leakage of this classical type control unit used to be a big problem to the train operating system.
The control unit designed by SAMSAM is micro computer controlled control unit with two photo sensors. The control unit always checks the system condition and is able to communicate with central control system. The control unit is water proof and can be fixed or replaced promptly when in trouble.
Tie Bars
Two toggle connecting rods with adjustable ends and connecting strip named tie bar and adjust bar connect tongue rail and the point machine. The set is mounted to the flange of the rail by hook screws and the clamping plate. This allows mounting to all rails of common design. Connection between the clamping plate and the bolt of connecting rod is fully insulated.
For locking of a tongue adjacent to a stock rail the point machine is equipped with slide locking bar. Another toggle mounting rods are installed to the tongue rail and connect to the locking bar. In closed position of the locking bar, the firmly mounted whole point machine is functioned as a resistance to any lateral forces acting on the tongue during movement of a vehicle over the points.
